Having a healthy pregnancy is one of the best ways to promote a healthy birth. Getting early and regular prenatal care improves your prospects for a healthy pregnancy and birth. This care can begin even before pregnancy with preconception care visits with myself.

Pregnancy is a brief and remarkable time in your life. It is transformative; a time when you can really connect deeply with yourself and a time you will naturally blossom. I choose to support and treat women throughout this crucial time because of my personal experiences, which I share with you in my story.

Pregnancy is one of the most exciting times of your life, but it can also be daunting. There are so many changes and questions. In addition to weight and body shape, other alterations in your body chemistry and function take place during pregnancy. Your heart works harder, your temperature registers slightly higher, body secretions increase, joints and ligaments are more flexible and hormones are altered. Mood changes are also common resulting from a combination of hormonal changes and greater fatigue as well as normal anxiety over body image, sexuality, finances, partner roles and impending parenthood.

This is why looking after yourself and your unborn baby is a number one priority. There are decisions to be made and many questions to ask, but how do you find the answers that are right for you?

Pregnancy is a special experience whether this is your first baby or your fourth. Feelings about pregnancy can be a little overwhelming. You may experience anything from joy to ambivalence and even fear. My wish is for every woman to have a healthy, happy pregnancy and a healthy happy baby. While many women escape pregnancy challenges, not everyone is so fortunate.

More than three decades of research in the field of pre and perinatal psychology and health shows that the most critical formative period is conception, the time we spend in the womb and how we are born. Findings point to the time shortly before conception to after birth as the most sensitive and critical period in establishing patterns in all areas of our life; physical, mental, emotional, and relational.  How babies are welcomed into the world creates the foundation for their sense of safety, self-worth and belonging and their capacity to have healthy relationships that are based on love, empathy and trust.  In this heavily “medicalised” era we need to be reminded how Mother Nature meant to welcome a new human being into the world. Why? Because there are 490,000 babies born each day. That is 5 to 6 babies born every second of the day.

Shouldn't we do what we can to give babies an optimum start in life?

This is also why emotional and physical support is absolutely vital throughout your pregnancy and birthing your baby. Having the exact support you need, when you need it, so you can address whatever it is that is going on with you physically, emotionally and mentally prevents you from transferring your fears to your unborn child. This is also why I highly recommend clearing your own Birth trauma, so patterning that has been imprinted on you at your birth does not transfer to your baby.

MEDITATION-BREATHING®
Restores and improves your connection with your baby, helps to ensure a good night’s sleep and assists with keeping your cholesterol levels under control. Meditation during pregnancy can reduce your heart rate and blood pressure.

Meditation can reduce the need for surgery, drugs, and anesthesia during delivery. Research shows that among pregnant meditators the rate of caesarean section surgery went down by 56 percent and the use of epidural anesthesia went down by 85 percent
Meditation not only increases pain tolerance by reducing stress hormones, it also helps the body produce endorphins, which go beyond relieving pain to enhancing pleasure. Endorphins have a powerful pain-relieving and pleasure-enhancing effect. As pain increases during labor, endorphins also increase to help mediate the pain. The more a woman meditates during pregnancy the higher her endorphin level will be during delivery.
